If ‘Caravaggio’ gave clues about the stylistic direction of DELLAFUENTE’s new album, due to its implementation of Cuban son and Caribbean music, ‘My way of life’ is the culmination of this facet of the Granaíno. Although ‘BRIGADO,’ shows practically all facets of the artist, this song is one of the few that shows a totally new one. It’s the Song of the Day.
The only collaboration that exists on DELLAFUENTE’s LP is himself, under the alias ‘3NOC’. Pablo Enoc Bayo Ruiz, DELLAFUENTE’s real name, aims to show a new artistic identity through this name, which promises to deliver “the most organic musical vision” of the artist. ‘My way of life’ is just that.
Although it begins with digital textures, the song soon becomes a display of winds, keyboards and percussion typical of salsa. The melody, on the other hand, belongs entirely to the world of flamenco. About her, DELLAFUENTE celebrates the most important thing she has in her life while giving away some lessons along the way: “I’m not worried about money, for me it’s a means, not an end / I don’t want to be happy, I want to make you happy.”
While the instrumentation grows and grows as the song progresses, including a tremendous flute solo at the end, the artist dedicates a verse to two of the most important parts of his life. He sings to his partner’s soul (“As pure and beautiful as glass / You taught me how to love”) and to the joy that comes from having become a father (“How nice it is to have met you / I am grateful that you were born / Being a father is the best thing I have ever been”).
