Dev Hynes will provide music for Penélope Cruz’s new film

Devonté Hynes, the artist behind Blood Orange, will return to the world of soundtracks for A24’s new film, ‘The Invite’. The film is directed by Olivia Wilde and will be the sixth soundtrack composed by Hynes.

The film will star Wilde herself along with Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton and is actually a remake of the Spanish comedy ‘Sentimental’ (2020), by Cesc Gay. In English, this is titled ‘The People Upstairs’. The A24 remake will tell the story of a night in which Rogen and Wilde’s characters invite their neighbors, Cruz and Norton, to dinner, only to have the boundaries and dynamics of their relationship forever questioned.

Hynes has already shared a piece from the soundtrack titled ‘Contentious Environment’, mainly composed of suspenseful violins. The artist was also behind the music for ‘Master Gardener’, ‘Passing’, ‘Queen & Slim’, ‘Palo Alto’ and ‘Mainstream’. In fact, Hynes has released more soundtracks than Blood Orange albums.
