Last October Triángulo de Amor Bizarro recorded a live show for KWXP in Bilbao, we assume around BIME. The concert was uploaded in February advancing a new song called ‘My Cathedral’.
A few days later, the first single from their new, much more commercial album, ‘Sacrificio’, was shared, and somehow we forgot about ‘My Cathedral’. It seemed like they had chosen this theme only because the filming took place in the Church of the Incarnation. ‘My cathedral’ almost inside a “cathedral”, leaving very appropriate plans. However, time is confirming that this is the most important song of this era. Not in vain is the title track of the album. ‘My Cathedral’ is our Song of the Day today.
‘My cathedral’ is the composition that best summarizes the artisan philosophy of Triángulo de Amor Bizarro. A long-distance career outside the music industry, in this case making “a vessel” with his own hands. That’s his “catedraaaaaaal”, sings Isa Cea.
It is better understood with the explanation they are giving in the interviews: “The album talks about maybe having to create our own future and that is “My Cathedral.” That we have to reinvent everything a little, leave behind things that perhaps are no longer as modern as they would have us believe. Like social networks, like the decrepit turbocapitalist system, and maybe we also have to give way to new generations and let them create their own world.
The production of the album enriches the live version that we saw at the outset, incorporating synthesizers that seem borrowed from OMD’s ‘Joan of Arc’, which gives it a melancholic touch. All of this without losing a bit of the energy that drummer Rafa Mallo is gradually contributing, who shines especially in the final climax.
Bizarre Love Triangle has an agenda with dozens of concerts spread throughout the country, culminating in Barcelona and Madrid next year. Don’t miss them in the rooms.
