Taylor Swift tops the new UK singles chart with ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, her song for ‘Toy Story 5’. The song has achieved the equivalent of 52,434 copies in the islands alone, and this time it can boast that it would have been top 1 without the help of physical support, or any variant.
The song has obtained 42,978 streaming points, compared to 42,116 for ‘Rein Me In’ by Sam Fender and Olivia Dean. They have helped ensure the 4,000 mp3 downloads and 5,000 CD singles sold by Taylor, but they have not been decisive as on other occasions.
This is the 7th number 1 for Taylor Swift in the United Kingdom after those achieved by ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ (2017), ‘Anti-Hero’ (2022), ‘Is It Over Now?’ (Taylor’s Version) (2023), ‘Fortnight’ (feat. Post Malone, 2024), ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ (2025) and ‘Opalite’. As you can see, they are all quite recent and none of them come from ‘Red’ or ‘1989’. Those singles were around the top 5, highlighting the number 2 achieved by ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Shake It Off’.
As for ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, it debuted on Spotify Global at number 1 and has since gone down. On its 7th day of life, we find it in position 9, although it will surely rise when ‘Toy Story 5’ premieres next week.
On the other hand, Taylor Swift is current for being the youngest artist ever recognized in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Sombr, who for her represents the future of music, has performed two songs in her honor, ‘Cardigan’ and ‘Dear John’. As Billboard reports, Swift gave an emotional 20-minute speech, in which she talked about her professional journey: “I think back on my 23-year musical career, the ups and downs and battles of the industry, the trials and tribulations, the cheers and the tears and the avalanche of doubts, the criticism—both fair and unfair—the total loss of privacy, the world tours and the ego wars, and the twists of fate, the absolute magical chaos of “This path I chose when I was too young to even remember it being a choice, songwriting was the easiest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
At the same ceremony, Alanis Morissette, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley (Kiss) were honored and RAYE performed.
