David Harbour, Lily Allen’s ex-partner, has spoken for the first time about the experience of hearing their tumultuous break-up chronicled on record. The ‘Stranger Things’ actor had barely spoken about the subject, but he opened up about the situation in a new interview with Variety.
The first thing Harbor said when asked about ‘West End Girl’, Lily Allen’s album in which the artist describes how the actor cheated on her, is that it was “strange”: “I think the privilege of every artist is to use their experience to create art, and I respect her for doing that,” she says.
He refuses to “say much more” because it is his “private life”: “Even though many people do not allow me to have it, I value it, and I also value the lives of the people with whom I interact privately,” he declared. Harbor has no intention of combating what Allen says on the album, but he does qualify his own words: «The stories are complex and that is why I say that I respect his creation of art to channel his experience. It was not my experience,” he says.
In the same interview, the actor admits that he suffered a nervous breakdown at the end of 2025 that caused him to act “erratically”: “I’m ashamed of it,” he says. “I feel that, for some of us, our virtues are closely connected to our evils,” the actor concludes. Lily Allen will be at Bilbao BBK Live this year, from July 9 to 11.
