Alexis Taylorknown as a leading member of Hot Chippublishes a single with him, also a DJ and musician Mike Simonetti. These are two songs and one of them is nothing less than a version of “I See A Darkess”, the timeless classic by Bonnie “Prince” Billy.
With an interesting solo career outside of Hot Chip, Alexis Taylor has also been making a name for herself within electronic pop. He has been publishing albums under his name since 2008 and among them stand out “Beautiful Thing” of 2018 and, without going any further, “Paris In The Spring”which was released just three months ago.
But Taylor is not standing still and has just released a new two-track single in collaboration with Mike Simonetti. It is his own song “Perfect Kiss” and a particular version of the classic “I See A Darkness” by Will Oldhamwho published it on the album of the same title in 1996 under the pseudonym Bonnie “Prince” Billie. His version thus joins other famous ones such as those of Johnny Cash, Anna Calvi & Perfume Genius or Rosalía & Refree.
For his part, the American Mike Simonetti He was not only the founder of the label Italians Do It Better next to Johnny Jewel (Chromatics, Glass Candy), but was also part of the techno duo Pale Blueowns the record company 2MR –who captains with Mike Sniper of Captured Tracks– and has solo works such as “Capricorn Rising” (11), “I Love Your Mom EP” (18), “Indoor Life” (20) or the compilation “Solipsism” (18).
