Ariana Grande debuts in the global top 1, but polarizes like never before

Ariana Grande adds 10th number 1… and breaks up with Ethan Slater

Ariana Grande is current for both professional and personal reasons. On the one hand, now freed from all contractual obligations regarding ‘Wicked’, Grande has returned to the stage as she begins the ‘eternal sunshine’ tour in the United States. Videos uploaded to YouTube show the singer being “abducted” during the show, as on the cover of the deluxe edition of her latest album, being lifted by ropes into a hole.

In addition, Grande’s new single, ‘hate that I made you love me’, has just become the artist’s tenth number 1 in the United States. With this achievement, Ariana equals Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Bruno Mars in the number of singles that have reached number one in the country. The song, which has also been number 1 in the United Kingdom, debuts more discreetly in Spain, where it enters position 31 (we will comment on this list in a separate news item).

This is how Grande’s number 1 list in the United States looks like:
• hate that i made you love me
• We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)
• Yes, And?
• Die For You
• Save Your Tears
• Positions
• Rain On Me
• Stuck With U
• 7 Rings
• Thank U, Next

On the other hand, TMZ and People confirm that Grande and actor Ethan Slater broke up “months ago,” although the separation occurred “amicably” and both maintain a good relationship. Sources close to the singer also claim that her upcoming album, ‘Petal’, “is not about Slater or the breakup.”
