“White Flag”, second preview of Vince Staples’ new work

The rapper Vince Staples has shared “White Flag”, the second preview of “Cry Baby”his new album that will be published next June 5 and that will mark a new independent stage in his career.

The song comes accompanied by a new video clip of a provocative and reflective nature, following the visual line already presented in “Blackberry Marmalade”, the first single from the album. On this occasion, Staples once again opts for images open to interpretation, without direct explanations, letting the message be constructed from the staging itself.

The promotion of the launch has also included several special actions in Los Angeles. The white flag that gives its name to the song appeared this week in front of the legendary punk venue The Smell, where the artist organized a free rehearsal with his band to perform songs from the new album for his followers. Shortly after, he also announced a concert presenting “Cry Baby” at the El Rey Theater on June 4.

After the introspective approaches of works such as “Ramona Park Broke My Heart” and “Dark Times”Vince Staples now looks outwards at “Cry Baby”addressing cycles of social and political tension in the United States. The album also opts for a sound evolution based on live instrumentation, reinforcing a more urgent and dynamic sound.

The album will include ten songs, including the already released “Blackberry Marmalade” and “White Flag.”
