shego release their new EP “MIAU”, about the breakup of friendship

The group shego presents in “MEOW”new project three songs full of acidity, vulnerability and bad temper “amiamiga”, “Bad luck” and “(I almost don’t live to tell it)” form the triptych that begins a new stage for the group.

shego premieres “MEOW”a three-hit EP in which pain, resentment and sweetness coexist without resolving. Far from looking at friendship breakups in black and white, here there is acidity, irony and vulnerability, but also impact and bad temper. Shego refines her speech and takes it to sharper, more direct and emotionally uncomfortable terrain. meow begins a new stage for the band, more ambitious and experimental that already sounds on an international scale thanks to influences such as Wet Leg either NewDadbut without losing the usual raw spark.

The band – formed by Irene Garry, Raquel Cerro, Charlotte Augusteijn and Elena Sabio– continues to consolidate his sound with this new EP. With “MEOW”shego expand their range, which is now more sophisticated, more raw.

“amiamiga” was the first single with which shego opened this wound, making their intentions clear: a song that does not limit itself to pointing out the cut but turns it into living matter. The second track, “Mala Suerte”, is the dark core of the project: tension and a sibylline sensuality move between provocation and threat. shego define the song as “the meanest song on the EP”, with a lick at the beginning that is threatening and gives way to verses with a sweeter melody that speak directly to the listener. The finale, “(I Almost Don’t Live to Tell About It)”, is the EP’s riskiest bet. The regret of dedicating so much time and energy to a relationship is addressed with an intimate and close tone, almost spoken. With a guitar hook that repeats throughout the song, the song evolves into a direct and insinuating spoken word. Shego uses direct and everyday phrases, ironically recriminating: “Like God you squeeze me, come on, fuck me more. Anyone would think you want to drown me.” Images as scathing as “your name is prohibited by law” underline how difficult it is to erase that person from your thoughts.
