The flamenco artist based in Barcelona CABA releases “El alba”, first single from his debut album, “Another Andalusian Dog”.
After three years, two EP’s and a good handful of singles that promised in CABA one of the most interesting voices both in the avant-garde and in the musical tradition, the Cádiz native living in Barcelona dares with a debut based on the work of the poet and playwright Federico García Lorca.
The first layer, the most superficial and danceable, is the one presented in his first single “El Alba”. A modern rumba that sets the rhythm to the farewell to innocence. The song is based on Lorca’s poem of the same name, one of CABA’s favorites, and reflects how the sun makes its way into the darkness of the night. Through a triangle, a minimal and pure instrument that grows accompanied by percussion and keyboards until it floods nostalgia with luminosity.
The song opens the most earthly part of the album, before entering its final and most ascending plane where he will be accompanied by some of the most significant names in contemporary flamenco. Thus, the Andalusian invokes for the first time Lorca’s duende – a supernatural element that makes true talent possible, for the poet divinity – with a songbook that shares the sensitivity and vision of the Granada native.
The video clip has been directed by Pablo Rossanoalso in charge of songs such as “SANTA”, “ANDALUCÍA” and “YERBABUENA”.
