Amaia shines on the Cannes red carpet, and at the piano

If I open my eyes I’m in Cannes. Amaia Romero must have thought this when she found herself on the red carpet of the famous French film festival, which is already taking place, and which she attended this Tuesday accompanied by the ‘Bitter Christmas’ team, including the protagonist, the actress Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, and, logically, its director Pedro Almodóvar, who in the past has praised the Navarrese, highlighting her spontaneity and talent during filming.

As you know if you have seen the film, Romero appears in ‘Amarga Navidad’ singing a version of ‘The Simple Things’ by Chavela Vargas.

Since Romero appeared on the Tiny Desk, generating international headlines after appearing playing a chair-flute (the work of a Galician inventor), it seems that his profile is expanding its international border, and this time it is the case again, since Romero has not only been seen on the red carpet in Cannes, but has also been able to sit at the piano, outside the Gran Teatro Lumière, to sing some songs: not only ‘The Simple Things’, but also ‘Volver’ – the main theme of the Almodóvar’s film of the same name – and his own ‘C’est la vie’, included on his latest album.

It is not the first time that Amaia sings ‘The Simple Things’ live: she and Almodóvar already performed an a cappella of the song weeks ago during the premiere of ‘Amarga Navidad’ in Madrid.

Amaia’s tour continues this summer and, for example, in July she will perform at the Río Babel festival in Madrid, among other festivals. In addition, he has two arena shows scheduled: in Valencia on May 31 and in Barcelona on December 20, which will be the end of the tour.
