Olivia Rodrigo’s next single is titled ‘the cure’

Olivia Rodrigo has announced that this Friday the second official single from her new album, ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, will hit music platforms. The song is titled ‘the cure’ and we all thought the same thing when reading it: there are already too many references to Robert Smith’s band.

The ‘GUTS’ author is known to be a big fan of The Cure, referring to Smith as her “personal hero” and even singing with him on stage at Glastonbury last year. Together they performed ‘Friday I’m In Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’. In turn, it is precisely this song that the artist mentioned in ‘drop dead’, the first single from her album.

Olivia describes ‘the cure’ as not only one of the best songs she has ever written, but also her favorite on the album. We will have to wait until Friday to find out if the references to the British band will continue, or if the nod extends to the title.

Although this will be the second single from the project, Rodrigo also revealed the song ‘begged’ on SNL, with backing vocals from Weyes Blood included. Olivia Rodrigo’s new album will be available on June 12 on all platforms.
