The 70th edition of Eurovision came to an end this past Saturday largely marked by the controversial participation of Israel, despite the fact that Bulgaria emerged as the winning country. However, it was not spared a huge drop in viewers in Europe.
One of the biggest falls came from the Netherlands, which had withdrawn from the contest but decided to broadcast the competition. The final obtained a 4.8% screen share and almost 800,000 viewers on average, which represents a tremendous drop of 2,792,000 million viewers compared to the data for the 2025 final. The United Kingdom also experienced a loss of 1 and a half million viewers, making it the least watched final since 2010.
On the other hand, data from Portugal points to a loss of half the number of viewers, while France is another country that lost more than 1 million viewers compared to what was obtained in 2025. Furthermore, if we add all the audiences that have lost the contest due to the withdrawal of countries such as Spain, Ireland and Slovenia, Eurovision would have lost more than 12 million viewers on average in 2026, compared to the data for these countries in 2025.
YouTube viewers are also down, although to a lesser extent. The platform has thus registered an average of 955,712 viewers with a peak of 1,314,391 people, which represents a decrease of 14.74% compared to last year.
Of course, there are still countries in which the audience has increased, such as Austria, host of the contest: 62.4% share and 1,504,000 viewers on average. It has been the most watched final in the country since 2015, which also took place in Vienna. Eurovision has also achieved an increase in Greece, with 67,000 more viewers than in 2025, and in Italy, which increased by 2.1 share points and 277,000 viewers.
