Joan Reggae Drummer celebrates Jamaican music with “Stronger Together”

“Stronger Together” It’s more than just a record. It is a celebration of Jamaican music that Joan Reggae Drummer signature with the participation of various historical names.

“Stronger Together” It is an album recorded between Catalonia, Jamaica and Brazilwhich includes sessions at the legendary Tuff Gong Recording Studioswith the participation of Jamaican artists such as Marlon Browm, Gubu Caparchi, Dahvid Slur, Space Kat and Aston Barrett Jramong others.

It is not the most common thing for a drummer to be the creator of a musical project, and even more so if we talk about reggae, but here is Joan Reggae Drummer to break the mold. It is true that Sly Dunbar (who died this past January) along with Robbie Shakespeare were an exceptional drum&bass tandem who worked with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh in their beginnings. But Joan’s new album is precisely inspired by the legacy of Carlton Barrett, key drummer for Bob Marley & The Wailers.

Assimilating Carlton’s rhythmic language, an organic, elegant and spiritual groove, Joan has turned the drums into a narrative tool at the service of the song and the message.
“Stronger Together” represents the most mature and ambitious work of his career. Its ten songs address universal themes such as social conscience, freedom of thought, love and collective responsibility, with human unity as the central axis. More than an album, it is a declaration of principles that reaffirms the validity of reggae as music of conscience.

Joan Vergés has been the drummer of The Pepper Pots and the band Miqui Puig and currently, he is also developing an intense career as a session drummer, participating in recordings and productions with artists from all over the world. Among his most notable works is his contribution to the song “Sweet Love” by the acclaimed Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer. Burna Boyincluded on the album “No Sign of Weakness”nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards in the category of Best Global Music Album.

The presentation of “Stronger Together” will take place in The Nau Bostik of Barcelona on sunday May 24. For the occasion, Joan Reggae Drummer will be accompanied by his All-Stars Bandmade up of nine musicians, with Alessandro “Dasplanta” as main vocalist. The concert is part of the Dub Jam Sessionsevents that have been organized since 2010 by the musician and producer Chalart58.
