What is Shakira Stadium?

Integrated into Iberdrola Music, the Shakira Stadium is conceived as a “parallel city” to Madrid in which, during Shakira’s three days in the Spanish capital, the venue will become an “immersive cultural destination” where Latin culture will be celebrated through activities curated by Shakira herself under the name “Es Latina.” These activities will consist of concerts, exhibitions, talks, workshops, cinema, gastronomy, literature and shared cultural experiences.

It is a temporary venue with capacity for more than 50,000 fans per night, which has been designed by the renowned architecture studio Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the same one that was in charge of Adele’s residence in Germany. The venue “will offer total visibility, state-of-the-art acoustics and premium experiences for fans, introducing the international artistic residency format for the first time in Spain.”

The press release highlights the cultural relevance of this residency in Spain: “The Latin Nation is not a geographical territory: it is a transnational community united by language, rhythm, creativity, resilience and joy.”

In May, Shakira will offer one of the most important concerts of her career performing on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
