Life in pink? Olivia Rodrigo’s third album is approaching

It is evident that the new era of Olivia Rodrigo is about to get underway, as the ‘GUTS’ (2023) singer is reappearing at public events, such as the Oscars, or even on albums like ‘Help(2)’, where she performs a surprising version of The Magnetic Fields.

Returning to the Oscars, there the author of ‘drivers license’ hinted that the title of her third album could have something to do with a lock. Her fans think it could be titled “Lock” or “Luck” (sorry, Olivia, but ‘Locket’ is already taken).

Maybe that lock is heart-shaped, like the one a fan recently discovered anchored to a fence in London. This had the initials “OR” inscribed and an approximate date, April, which fans speculate would be the album’s release month.

The OR3 wall

In recent days, Rodrigo has carried out an action that has consisted of changing the color tone of his website on a daily basis, moving from the lilac typical of his first two albums progressively towards more pink and pastel tones. This strategy has also carried over into real life, with painted walls in cities like Los Angeles being repainted with lighter colors.

Coincidentally, Rodrigo is being seen at events wearing dresses of this pink tone, and it is already known that the clothing of pop stars also usually indicates the color palette of their new eras. In fact, she has just appeared cooking chicken lumpia on Vogue’s YouTube channel in a suit of that color, evoking Jacqueline Kennedy’s style.

Olivia, inspired by New Order

Now, Rodrigo has just starred on a cover in British Vogue, in which, without giving too many details about his new music, he does say that he has written a majority of “sad romantic songs”, since love songs “with a touch of nostalgia and sadness” are his favorites. Olivia says that, personally, she is happier and happier than ever – she has been linked to actor Louis Partridge – so it has been “a creative challenge” to write happy songs.

Details about Olivia Rodrigo’s third album, as you can see, are scarce, and there are even fans who point out that the real tone of the era could be red. In December he did reveal some of the musical influences he was working on, ranging from New Order to Joy Division, including The White Stripes and Bikini Kill. There is also speculation that The Cure’s Robert Smith could be involved, after he and Rodrigo shared the stage at Glastonbury last year.
