Labrinth, fed up with the industry, charges against Euphoria and its label

Labrinth, the British musician known for being the composer of the soundtrack of ‘Euphoria’, can’t handle the music industry anymore. Recently, the artist announced that he was “leaving” the industry and told “fuck” his record label, Columbia Records, and ‘Euphoria’, in a series of now-deleted publications that did not completely clarify the situation.

Now, the author of ‘Formula’ has given something resembling an explanation, although without expressing himself in completely clear words. In an Instagram post, Timothy Lee McKenzie seems to criticize the functioning of the music industry and how success and money can change people. Nothing new, but it seems that for Labrinth it is being a turning point.

“We flutter around great stars hoping to be in their place one day, like snakes waiting to eat their owners,” the artist writes. «We entered this industry as pure creatives who want to share color, and we end up becoming Wall Street wolves drooling over stocks and shares. “We have meaningful relationships with like-minded people and we discard them as soon as a bigger opportunity presents itself.”

Labrinth reflects: “Who the hell said it’s normal for us to convert what I call the noise of God (our music) into commercial transactions?”

At the bottom of his publication, Labrinth has added one last reflection, ensuring that he wants to have “meaningful interactions” within the music industry. “I don’t want to use anyone or be used,” he said. «I hope people stop acting as if things have to be done this way. It doesn’t have to be this way. Being fake is not a good business plan.

Labrinth would have returned to compose the soundtrack of ‘Euphoria’ for its third season, in collaboration with Hans Zimmer. It is unknown where the project currently stands. The series returns to HBO in a month, on April 13.
