A few weeks after offering a DJ session at Canino FM in Barcelona, Olof Dreijer has given the details of his first solo album. The former member of the Swedish synth-pop band The Knife with his sister, Karen Dreijer, known as Fever Ray, will release ‘Loud Bloom’ on May 8.
The album will be made up of 14 tracks, half of which have been released as singles over the last three years, through various EPs. These are ‘Rosa Rugosa’, ‘Cassia’, ‘Coral’, ‘Acuyuye’, ‘Blood Lilly’, ‘Iris’ and a new version of ‘Camelia’.
‘Loud Bloom’ will be a release from the dh2 label, which publishes artists such as Kelly Lee Owens and George Daniel, and is presented with ‘Echoed Dafnino’, a bouncy and colorful electronic production that features the collaboration of Sudanese vocalist MaMan.
In reality, ‘Echoed Dafnino’ is a remix of an original MaMan song, ‘Dafnino’, released in 2024. Dreijer has remixed the song because he wanted to be able to use the Khartoum artist’s “beautiful voice” in his electronic sessions. However, he considers the result “more than a remix” and has included it on the album.
Another of Loud Bloom’s notable collaborations is that of South African singer Toya Delazy, who raps in Zulu.
