Samuraï, the project of Madrid-based Aroa Lorente, has its second album ready, which will be published by Universal. It must be the one of consolidation after the gold records obtained by singles like ‘Tirando balas’ and the ballad ‘Palabra prohibited’.
Samuraï is also well known for her collaborations with La La Love You (‘The Beginning of Something’ is triple platinum), Dani Fernández, Belén Aguilera and Leo Rizzi. ‘The Parachutes’ is the best possible option to get the new campaign on track and is our Song of the Day today.
‘The Parachutes’ takes place on a morning in which the artist “is not ready to talk”, in which “her wires get crossed” and she “feels bad” for letting herself be carried away by that (inner) voice that “no matter how much she ignores it, it won’t go away.”
The catchy chorus justifies the song’s title, stating that “falling is their way of flying.” The production of the song, in an eighties mood, although at the same time organic in its purpose as a pop-rock theme, is the counterpoint to Samuraï’s sad mornings, certainly making it fly without a “parachute.” The watery guitars even refer to the Smiths: if this had been produced by an international pop singer, it could only have been Ladyhawke.
In any case, the topic manages to be edifying, because as the press release says, we are facing “an affirmation of resilience where the leap into the void becomes an act of personal strength.” “Nobody said it was easy,” he remembers.
Samuraï has posted the “sold out” sign at some stops on its new tour, such as Zaragoza, A Coruña, Alicante and Granada. The tour will soon pass through Bilbao (March 13), Valencia (March 20), Murcia (March 27), Málaga (March 28) and Valencia again (April 3). Details in Ticketmaster.
