Chappell, Bieber and JENNIE: three ways to deal with the paparazzi

In 2026, paparazzi are still a celebrity’s biggest nuisance. Over the past few days, artists like Chappell Roan, Justin Bieber and JENNIE have had to deal with cameras following them everywhere. Of course, each one in the most different way.

Dua Lipa and her partner, Callum Turner, were in Paris a month ago when they were suddenly cornered by a group of paparazzi outside a restaurant. After the popstar made it clear that they did not have the night for trouble (“No, we are not going to do this”), the couple chose to wait for the storm to stop on its own, walking between constant flashes.

Others, like JENNIE, have taken it more calmly when approached by photographers during Paris Fashion Week: “Can I please have my day? “This is very stressful for me,” she asks the paparazzi, clearly tired. Justin Bieber, public enemy number 1 for this union due to his clashes in the past, has had the opposite reaction, throwing a bottle of water at them when leaving a dinner with Hailey Bieber. Without looking, too.

For his short time in the industry, Chappell Roan has proven to know how to treat paparazzi by giving them their own medicine. During his days in Paris, he has done just this. When surrounded by cameras, the author of ‘The Giver’ has claimed to feel “ignored as a human” and has decided to start recording the paparazzi themselves: “That’s how it feels,” she said.

The most surreal thing about Chappell’s case is the fan, or we assume it is a fan, who is waiting for the popstar to sign the album when, clearly, it is not the best time. It is tender and sad in equal parts, because the singer completely ignores it. “Can you sign me, Chappell?” this person says. Chappell, on his own: “I’ve asked them several times to leave and they don’t,” he tells the screen of his mobile phone. It is not clear whether he is a fan or someone who intends to sell Chappell’s signature later, but his disappointed face does not seem fake.
