Laaza is one of the most special emerging artists on the national scene, both for her vindication of rural life and for the enormous sensitivity of her lyrics. In ‘Primer Amor’, he brings together all the good things he has to offer and a little more in what could be his best song. Of course, it’s the Song of the Day.
Until now, Laaza’s compositions have been characterized by a minimalist, pastoral production, in line with the rural stories that he usually captures in his lyrics. In ‘Primer Amor’, the artist opts for complete instrumentation: enveloping acoustic guitars, a subtle organ and a heavenly choir accompany her brilliant words.
‘First Love’ is precisely what its title indicates. She has explained it this way on social networks: “She talks about getting excited, living it and being disillusioned by the experience that happened.” Laaza begins singing about his “fantasies in the form of a woman”, mentioning the desire for “a shotgun, some high heels, a Catholic-Christian wedding and a country house” and the promise he always expected and never came: “You were never going to say goodbye to me.”
In contrast, what her first love expected was “a suicidal virgin without a bra” who “did everything.” In the last verse of the song, the composer talks about the 13 years that passed “until we saw each other again”: “You remembered me and I tried not to,” she sings, rounding off the lyrics in her final moments. It’s just another example of Laaza’s ingenuity. Their previous single, ‘We are all going to die’, was just as powerful: “There is no anti-wrinkle cream that can prevent it.”
