After thirteen years of inactivity, Julen Urigoitia is back with a new project, SWN. Will release the next March 19 a four-track EP titled “22:22” and edited by Satellite K. A job for which the legendary Dave Bascombeillustrious British engineer and producer of the 80s-90s, father of the sound of Depeche Mode either Tears For Fears. Talk about the musician Julen Urigoitia is to talk about 08001, one of the most interesting, ambitious and disruptive projects on the national scene that introduced us to the already fully globalizing 21st century. The year was running 2002 when the producer, born in Barcelona in 1975opened the doors of his recording studio on the street Sant Gil del Raval to offer a loudspeaker to the voices of the ethnic and cultural diversity of the central Barcelona neighborhood.
The result was a trilogy of albums: “Raval ta joie” (03), “Maelstrom” (07) and “No Pain No Gain” (13). More than fifty artists collaborated, speaking English, Arabic and French. In addition, they mixed flamenco cajon, tabla, darboukas, electronic sequences, cellos and guitars. A sound in which trip-hop, reggae and dub, raï music, flamenco, electronica and pop-soul coexisted in an exercise of musical syncretism unprecedented in our country. In total, 08001 They offered more than 150 concerts in 22 countries on three continents.
