Chvrches cover The Postal Service and Robert Palmer

Chvrches have covered “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service and “Addicted To Love” by Robert Palmer for the series soundtrack “Tell Me Lies”.

The versions of Lauren Mayberry and company have signed on for the third season of the hit series, which its creators have recently revealed will be the last. On their cover of “Addicted To Love,” the trio brings their own distinctive stamp to the 1985 classic by Robert Palmerreplacing the high-energy synths with a more minimalist piano melody and replacing the original charismatic vocals with a more melancholic approach.

For the version of “Such Great Heights,” Chvrches stay truer to the original, gradually starting with a driving beat before Mayberry’s powerful vocals come in and build up to the euphoric chorus.

This is not the first time that Chvrches show their admiration for The Postal Service and by Ben Gibbard, who is also the vocalist of Death Cab For Cutie. In 2016, both Chvrches as Death Cab They went on tour together, with the former celebrating their album “Every Open Eye” and the seconds presenting “Kintsugi”.

The two versions of Chvrches They arrive at a time when the trio is back together and putting the finishing touches on a new album. The Scottish synth-pop band hasn’t released an album since “Screen Violence” in 2021, although she continued performing live until 2023 and also opened for Coldplay at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.

Over the past few years, the members have focused their attention on various solo projects. Among them, Mayberry released his debut solo LP, “Vicious Creatures”in 2024, in addition to collaborating with Joe Talbot, from IDLESAaron Dessner, from The Nationaland other artists. Most recently, she guested on the upbeat new single by Lucia & The Best Boys“Lonely Girl.”

As to “Tell Me Lies”the latest season has been very well received by fans, with five million viewers worldwide following the premiere episode. The final episode, titled “Are You Happy Now, That I’m on My Knees?”, is available on Disney+ in the UK, and the first two seasons can also be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
