Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso have launched one of the most unexpected collaborations in recent years. Sting himself is the key piece of the first single of the Argentinian new era. One in which the British artist not only acts as a musician, but also as a spiritual guide. The GRAMMY winners for Best Latin or Alternative Rock Album make self-help a great song in ‘HASTA JESÚS HAD A BAD DAY’.
What first catches your attention about the song are the guitars with which it begins, unmistakably coming from the school of The Police. ‘Roxanne’ or ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’ immediately come to mind. After the initial shock, what we have is an enjoyable rock song in which Ca7riel and Paco seek a life free of excess. Of course, with the usual irony: “Tell me your problems, bare your sorrows,” Paco sings.
With the most glam melody they have sung so far, Argentines reject the luxury of brands like “Cartier” or “Dior” or the effects of drugs (“Neither the parakeet nor the alcohol are going to heal you”). In the chorus, Paco encourages the listener not to give up and to follow their heart, because “everything has a solution.” Whatever it is, you can get through it, because “even Jesus had a bad day.”
Sting’s is not an empty collaboration, with the British artist taking charge of some lines of the verse and an entire chorus translated into English. He is really committed to the project and it shows. At the same time, he becomes the figure who has returned Ca7riel and Paco to their rock origins with the progressive band Astor. What other genres will you play with in ‘FREE SPIRITS’?
Ca7riel and Paco’s new performance era is a direct product of their meteoric rise to fame, which was initially going to culminate with the release of an album titled ‘TOP OF THE HILLS’. Finally, they canceled the release of the album to “rest and heal.” It seems that they had already thought about this ‘FREE SPIRITS’, scheduled for next March 19.
