Private investigation questions Kurt Cobain’s suicide

A new investigation questions the suicide of Kurt Cobainstating that he could have been murdered after casting doubt on his autopsy. Seattle police would only open the case if there is new evidence.

A King County medical examiner then ruled that he committed suicide, and the cause of death was recorded as a self-inflicted gunshot wound with a shotgun.

Now, a unofficial team of private sector forensics has questioned the results of the autopsy on the musician’s death. According to several media outlets, the team spent three days reviewing crime scene materials and discovered that there was evidence that supposedly contradicted the autopsy verdict. Brian Burnettthe leader of the investigation, has stated that it was a homicideand what could there be one or more people involved in said crime. They allegedly could have forced the singer to take an overdose of heroin before pulling the trigger. They also allege that the note he left contained two different fonts, in addition to questioning several inconsistencies in the report.

The Seattle police and the coroner’s office have responded to this report, maintaining their initial decision regarding the autopsy. They also added that would they be willing to review the case if new evidence emerges, but so far they believe that there is nothing that justifies reopening the case. Still, for decades some have questioned the ruling, raising various conspiracy theories claiming that the musician did not take his own life.
