Have Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso been inspired by Barcelona’s Ciutat?

The Barcelona group City has spread in his instagram a video in which they compare some of their creative concepts as a band with those that Argentines are taking in recent times Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso and the truth is that there are many coincidences.

Ciutat have posted a humorous video that follows the usual guidelines of their videos since their beginnings, but the message they transmit gives a lot to think about and could become something more serious. In its statement, the group emphasizes that it is an official statement and that everything they say is supported by their legal team.

In the video it is noted from the beginning that “Lately we have detected several creative coincidences between our project and that of an Argentine group that has recently won a Grammy. We want to make it clear that we do not accuse anyone, nor do we claim that there is a copy. We only point out striking parallels.”

The similarities, they point out, already appear in the past, when, two years ago, Mainline Magic Orchestra – who are part of the Mainline collective, which also includes Ciutat – sometimes appeared dressed as muscular men, when Ciutat themselves used treadmills at the concerts of the tour to present their first full-length album and even when Marcelo Pantani – also a member of the collective – offered a DJ session on a stationary bicycle. Later, these aspects were seen in the Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso shows. “Up to this point it could be a coincidence,” they comment in the video.

“After winning the Grammy,” they continue, “they have adopted a concept of community very similar to the one we have been using since our last album, and they use the figure of a mentor, described in a very similar way to our guru Richard Cardino.” For example, you can see the documentary video that accompanies their second album “Ciutat L’amistat”in which the idea of his community and that imaginary spiritual mentor appears, something that would be related to the concept that the Argentines are showing together with the British Sting.

They then emphasize again that “We repeat, we do not accuse, we do not denounce and we do not affirm anything, we are simply observing these coincidences calmly and with the advice of our legal department.”

The video concludes jokingly with the phrase “Maybe it’s our fault and we should have foreseen that a year later they would have these ideas.” To which the lawyer present in the video points out “For another time, let me know before.” We will see how this issue ends and if it ends up generating legal measures or, on the contrary, brings both groups closer together. Time will tell.
