Disney+ has announced “A History of the French Touch”a three-episode documentary miniseries that focuses on the movement that redefined electronic music in the late 90s. The series will explore that key moment with unpublished archives and testimonies from those who built it from within: Daft Punk, Cassius, Étienne de Crécy, Alan Braxe, DJ Falcon, DJ Mehdi and Peter Winter. The miniseries is scheduled to hit the platform in 2027.

Between 1993 and 2001French Touch transformed house with filters, samples and grooves that went from the Parisian underground club to dominating dance floors, festivals and charts around the world. It wasn’t a single genre: it was an attitude. Disco filters, house grooves, sampling culture and a DIY mentality that blurred the line between underground credibility and international success. The phenomenon featured figures who helped turn what began into underground clubs Paris as Le Palace, Queen, Rex Club, La Locomotive either Folies Pigalle into a global musical force.

“A History of the French Touch” is directed by Thibaut de Longevillealready known for capturing the spirit of French electronic culture with “DJ Mehdi: Made in France”. The project will function as a map of the origin of a sound that continues to influence electronic music, pop and current club culture. Based on early announcements, the ambition is clear: chart the origins, rise and lasting impact of the French Touch as a cultural force, from smoky Parisian clubs to grand festival stages and global pop dominance.
