Sting, and not Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso, has announced the arrival of a new album by the Argentine duo. After the “cancellation” of the album they were going to release last December, ‘Top Of The Hills’, we now know, following a delirious announcement, that ‘FREE SPIRITS’ will arrive on March 19. ‘
Ca7riel and Paco canceled the release of ‘Top of The Hills’ to “rest and heal”: “We got carried away by a level of exposure, pressure and success that we did not know how to handle, and we made wrong and hasty decisions.” Sting is glad for this decision, describing that album as “literally the worst thing I heard in my entire life.”
Then we saw the duo at the Grammys, dressed all in white and with a total cult attitude. On the red carpet, they said they had a new mentor. We never imagined that they were referring to Sting himself, who has confirmed a collaboration on the new album. So nothing was real? Wasn’t there a previous album? Was it all promo? We don’t know, but we love it.
The duo has uploaded a video to their YouTube channel in which Sting explains everything in detail, from how his own career took him to “unexpected ups” and “devastating downs,” how he decided to found the Free Spirits center and how he saw in Catriel and Paco the opportunity to finally find the True Free Spirit. Sting totally nails it as the leader of an elitist sect.
From the words of The Police’s vocalist, we assume that the Argentinians’ new album will have 12 songs (“12 step treatment”) and will be mostly conceptual, with Ca7riel and Paco “verbally” narrating their experience at the Free Spirits center. On March 19, along with the album, a mini movie will be released, just as those from ‘BAÑO MARÍA’ have accustomed us to.
