Tate McRAE, who is still touring the United States with his Miss Possessive Tour, tour that passed through Spain last May, has launched new single, ‘Tit for tat’, presumably the first advance of a reissue of ‘So Close to What’ (2025) still to announce.
‘Tit for tat’, which has entered directly to the 5th of Spotify, is an answer to a previous song by The Kid Laroi, ‘A Cold Play’. As you may remember, Tate McRAE and The Kid Laroi came out and ‘So Close to What’ included a duet of both called nothing less than ‘I Know Love’. Recently, Tate and Laroi have left it and have started throwing messages in songs. Laroi opened the ban and, in ‘A Cold Play’, dared to declare: “Who was I to think I could fix you?”
Tate McRAe USA ‘Tit for tat’ to put the points on the ís: “Let’s go song by song, you a message and I the next, the one for the other, boy, you have asked for it.” Then he hesitate: «Is that the best you have? The good where is it? ” In a variation of the pre-stribe, Tate replicates: “You are the one who has to fix, kiss me your ass.”
Musically, ‘Tit for Tat’ offers a half time of pop and cloud rap influences, in the atmospheric line of cuts such as ‘Run for the Hills’, but much more environmental, digital and enveloping, including crystalline effects.
The good debut of ‘Tit for Tat’ in lists aims to become a new success of Tate McRAE. The “Let’s Go Song for Song, let’s go back to back” line is catchy, although this time the use of reverb and settings is excessive. Meanwhile, ‘Just Keep Watching’, McRAe’s single for ‘F1 the Movie’, remains strong in lists and already adds more than 300 million streams.
