This Friday, the ‘Tron: Ares’ soundtrack composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross has seen the light. The duo signs the work as Nine Inch Nails and not with their individual names, as they used to in their collaborations for film. The album includes a caliber banger of ‘As Alive as you need me to be’ and a surprise in the form of collaboration, that of the Gaditana Judeline in ‘Who Wants to Live Forever?’
The unexpected union of Nine Inch Nails and Judeline is explained that both are part of the same record label, Interscope. In an Instagram post, Lara Fernández, who has just been nominated for three Latin Grammys for her debut ‘Bodhiria’ (2024), thanked Interscope, the agency Las Olas and also producer Ian Kirkpatrick (Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears) -Who appears in the production credits with Bj Burton and Hudson Mohawke- his implication in the project.
In ‘Who Wants to Live Forever?’, Nine Inch Nails delivers an electronic ballad floating crossed by the consciousness of mortality. Reznor sings the stanzas, imagining a better place, and Judeline interprets the chorus with her usual whispering. In the lyrics, Fernández expresses his desire that the loved person remains by his side, until the end: “We are all here to die, stay here with me, all we had is time,” he sings of course in English. Despite its prominence, Judeline does not appear accredited on streaming platforms.
‘Who Wants to Live Forever?’ It is built from a piano that oscillates between the ghostly and the bright, on a dense electronic production. Digital treatment evokes the glitch of the early 2000s, and its crescendo ends up deriving in a techno of great emotional tension. Reznor and Judeline, meanwhile, honor the melody of the song, interpreting it each in their personal style, each taking it to their particular sound universe.
Judeline has recently announced the closing concert of the ‘Bodhiria’ tour, which will take place on February 22, 2026 at the Movistar Arena in Madrid.
