Matt Berningerleader and lyricist The Nationalwill launch what will be your second solo album, “Get Sunk”next May 30 through Book/Concord Records.Disco which we can hear an advance entitled “Bonnet of Pins”.
Matt Berninger became known as The National Leader, but already with his 2020 solo debut, “Serpentine Prison”he warned us that he also wanted to have a solo career. Although in reality it is not something really alone, but that this second long solo that announces for May 30, “Get Sunk”it is an album in which he has worked hand in hand with the producer and engineer are O’Brien and for which he has had numerous musicians and friends like Meg Duffy (Hand Houss), Julia Laws (Ronboy), Kyle Resnick (The National, Beirut), Garret Lang, Sterling Laws, Booker T Jones, Harrison Whitford, Mike Brewer and Walter Martin and Paul Maroon of The Walkmen. All of them have gone through the basement-study that Berninger and O’Brien possess in Silverlake (California).
According to Berninger, this album is not necessarily an autobiographical album, but in it the narrator is processing how he became himself. On the other hand, Berninger has also announced dates in North America and the United Kingdom/EU in support of “Get Sunk”which will begin on May 19 in The Showbox from Seattle and will continue on August 22 in Dublin, Ireland. On the tour will be backed by the band that recorded “Get Sunk”including Ronboy (Julia Laws), which will open the concerts.
“Get Sunk” It will include the themes “Inland Oean”, “No Love”, “Bonnet of Pins”, “Frozen Oranges”, “Breaking into acting (featuring hand housing)”, “Nowhere Special”, “Little By Little”, “Juck”, “Silver Jeep (Featuring Ronboy)” and “Times of Difficulty”.
