Dua Lipa has announced a pair of concerts at the WiZink Center. The artist visited Mad Cool and it seems that her show was well received because the tickets for presale this Wednesday are flying off the shelves. Today there is another opportunity before the general sale on Friday. At the moment, no one seems to know for sure if the ‘Radical Optimism Tour’ that we saw in July will be the same one that will take place from this autumn, outside of festivals.
While we don’t know if there will be major changes, minor ones or no changes at all, we venture to guess that these 5 great moments will have to be repeated… while leaving one wish.
Training Season
One of the most memorable things about the show is that it begins with the second single from the album it presents. ‘Training Season’ is one of the best songs of 2024 – as ‘Houdini’ was of 2023 – and it is hard to think of a better introduction to the set. In its presentation – like the one we saw at the Brits – it is already clear that in ‘Radical Optimism Tour’ the dancers will be as important as the live band.
Levitating
Glastonbury showed us the tricks of the set, the BBC uploaded them with permission and in high quality, and one of the highlights is the performance of ‘Levitating’. Already detached from DaBaby, and from remixes with The Blessed Madonna that did not catch on, without any need other than its delicious original disco groove and its Daft Punk touch.
Be the One
One of the highlights of Dua Lipa’s debut is this tour ‘Be the One’. Once again, in the absence of any changes in the show, Dua Lipa takes advantage of it to introduce her band. In Madrid she also took the opportunity to speak a little Spanish, and after her relationship with Almodóvar and Alana Portero, it’s hard to believe that this won’t be the case. Will she tell us again that we are “beings of light and energy”? We also leave you with the PRO recording of Glastonbury.
Cold Heart
Dua Lipa’s most listened to song today is her collaboration with Elton John. ‘Cold Heart’ is a recreation of ‘Sacrifice’ that has managed to transform into a completely new song that has enchanted the world due to the high level of melancholy contained in Dua Lipa’s part. It was not missing in Mad Cool and I don’t think it can be missing in the next leg of the tour.
The encore with the best hits
At least so far, the encore of ‘Radical Optimism Tour’ has been a very strong one: no less than the two main singles from ‘Future Nostalgia’, which represented a turning point in Dua Lipa’s career, plus ‘Houdini’. Who can leave with a bad taste in their mouth after something like that?
A wish
Maybe with more time than at a festival and less slavery to the casual public, Dua Lipa will have the opportunity to get a little more shine out of ‘Radical Optimism’, the album. There must be some way, through imagination and staging, to convince us that ‘End of an Era’ was a very cute bossa that fits very well as an intro. That ‘Whatcha Doing’ is a good old school mid-tempo. That ‘Maria’ has its thing. But is there not going to be a 4th single? Will it be a 100% new song?
