Among the emerging artists who start from a sensitivity close to flamenco to open up to other musical universes is Dulze. The artist from Cádiz debuted in 2020 and, since then, has published works such as the EP ‘Gatea’, with a proposal close to that of Judeline, María José Llergo or the also CURRO from Cádiz.
‘Maleante’ is a clear example of the urban renewal that what was once called – somewhat derogatorily – “flamenquito” has experienced. So is ‘La Gata’, which breaks expectations to transform into a seductive slow reggaeton.
Even more interesting and unexpected is that Dulze’s proposal transitions towards a sensibility closer to bedroom pop and indie in songs like ‘Qué fantasy’ or ‘Otros lips’, where it is supported by acoustic guitars, pop-rock drums and funky touches on percussion and bass. BENEE can be an influence, all of a sudden.
Hyperpop is also in the spotlight of María Lorenzo – the artist’s real name -, with ‘KMK2’ being another of her featured songs, this time with the Catalan Sofía Coll.
Dulze’s is, therefore, a completely contemporary proposal, which has already attracted the attention of the Girando Por Salas circuit. Dulze will present her music live in venues across the country starting this March, starting in Barcelona.
