Wet leg reference Shakira and Big Brother in a different song

Next week, on July 11, Wet Leg’s second album is already very expected after his homonymous debut, which was recognized even in the Grammy (and remember that they are British). Accompanied by Ellis Durand (bass), Henry Holmes (drums) and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar, synthesizer), ‘Moisturizer’ is defined as a “fun, freaky and fabulous” album. We already know 3 themes: the ball ‘Catch these fists’, ‘CPR’ and since this week ‘Davina McCall’.

The name of this theme that we select today as a song of the day refers to the British presenter, linked to Channel 4 and known especially for her role in the local ‘Big Brother’. For Wet leg, Davina becomes a metaphor of omnipresence “I will never let you go.” This feeling so “Creepy” continues in the second stanza, revealing that the song could also have literally called “Shakira.” Wet leg refers to his hit ‘Whenever, wherever’, to insist on the same idea: wherever you run away, they will be.

Musically, ‘Davina McCall’ is also a different record for Wet leg, less raw, less roaring, although true to his style. If it were a blur song, it would be one that Graham Coxon sing instead of Damon, type ‘Coffee & TV’. We leave you with its beautiful animation video, made with plasticine figures.
