“Who wants to save rock if they can party?” It was one of the most accurate questions in national music in 2024 and the answer lies in the band that asked it. Viva Belgrado will close the ‘Cancionero de los cielos’ tour this Saturday, January 3 at La Riviera as part of the Inverfest programming. Not only will it be one of the most important concerts of his career, but the beginning of his new stage.
‘Cancionero de los Cielos’ was one of the biggest surprises of 2024. Screamo, rap, indie rock and pop were completely mixed in a complete project from start to finish and that we not only chose as the second best national LP of the year at the time, but as one of the 20 best albums of the year worldwide. Time has only made it improve like fine wine, with the themes covered – aversion to fame, job uncertainty, crisis of creativity – being just as relevant today.
The band from Córdoba will end this era on Saturday, January 3, but the date will also be a beginning. After the incorporation of Cristina Sánchez on bass in 2025 and the departure of Ángel Madueño after 12 years with the band, Viva Belgrado will say goodbye to their current repertoire at La Riviera, which includes such passionate songs as ‘Un Tragaluz’, ‘Gemini’ or ‘Vernissage’, and will premiere some new songs from their next album.
Little is known about this one, apart from the fact that they will begin recording it this January with producers Ricky Falkner (Standstill, Berri Txarrak, Iván Ferreiro) and Jordi Mora (Cala Vento, Bunbury, La MODA). The band says that it will be the first time since 2016 that they break the four-year period between albums. His particular version of ‘Estrellas Místicas’, one of Triángulo de Amor Bizarro’s classics, has been his only release in 2025.
Advance tickets for Viva Belgrade’s end-of-tour concert at La Riviera are still available from 18 euros (plus shipping costs) on the official Inverfest website. Additionally, Ezpalak and Mourn will also join the party as guest bands.
In addition to Mr. Kilombo’s concert tomorrow at La Riviera, which also ends its tour, Inverfest will offer a very diverse lineup of concerts in 2026 so that live music continues during the coldest months of the year. Some of these concerts will be those of Destripando la Historia, Ariel Rot, Valeria Castro, León Benavente, Baiuca, Abraham Mateo, Carlos Ares, Luz Casal or Raül Refree & Niño de Elche.
