Turnstile pay tribute to Mani (The Stone Roses) by covering “I Wanna Be Adored”

The American band Turnstile has passed through the studios of the Australian station Triple J. What we couldn’t imagine is that, within the “Like A Version” section, Brendan Yates’ group was going to cover nothing less than the anthem “I Wanna Be Adored” by The Stone Roses.

We could imagine many covers that modern hardcore band Turnstile could have chosen, but we weren’t expecting this one. And the choice was not fortuitous, but rather the group wanted to pay a heartfelt tribute to the unfortunately deceased. Gary “Mani” Mounfieldbassist for The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, who left us last year. “It seemed like the perfect time to honor him,” explained the guitarist. Meg Mills. The group has selected the song because they consider it one of their great favorites in British independent music, underlining the perspective that this type of sounds had on American youth, who considered them alternative.

Turnstile’s vocalist, Brendan Yates, He has said in this regard that “I Wanna Be Adored” is one of his all-time favorite songs because it is “simple and beautiful.” For his part, Mills highlighted the importance of the British band as a unique and iconic reference for the alternative sound. In fact, you can see them talking about it in the interview that rounds out the program.
