Ya está en la calle el número de febrero de Mondo Sonoro

Music news

The February issue of Mondo Sonoro is now on the streets

This month our cover features the five members of the Catalan band Periferia. Rock group for which we predict a very promising future ahead.

Next March 6th it will be published “What remains to be felt” (Kasba Music, 26). EP that will represent a new step in that particular rise in which the protagonists of our cover are immersed. they are Peripheryand they have enough reasons to seduce us with their emotional rock of sharp guitars that take your breath away. They are the present that guides us.

Revelation of the penultimate British wave of post-punk, Dry Cleaning They refined and expanded their proposal in their second album, and they deepen that path in their third work “Secret Love” (4AD/PopStock!, 26), which has just seen the light.

Nacho Vegas returns with an album that is clearly involved and not at all veiled, in which the denunciation of the current socio-political situation shares the spotlight with that poetic and lucid narrative that is the hallmark of the house. The result, another unmissable work: “Semi-precious lives” (Politic Bear, 26).

From Valladolor, Erik Urano has become the clearest example that there are other ways to face music. He has been proving it for years and “Stalker” (Sonido Muchacho, 26), his new album, highlights his particular way of understanding both music and the world around him. That surrounds us.

Miles Kane He says that when he entered the Easy Eye studios in Nashville he felt the same cozy and familiar vibes as when he created the first compositions of The Last Shadow Puppets with Alex Turner. He’s not very interested in talking about the duo, but, frankly, after producing such impeccable works as “Sunlight In The Shadows” (Easy Eye Sound/Music As Usual, 25), we don’t need it.

Between noise and silence, between echoes of dream-pop and the most severe distortion, with very careful electronic atmospheres, spatial organs and ambient sounds that induce us to trance and the most spiritual and luminous abstraction. This is what Raül Refree and Child from Elche in “Cru+es” (Sony, 25).

Ferran Palau publish “Happy Anniversary” (Hidden Track, 26) on his forty-third birthday. A naked and essential album, closer to folk and the spirit of pure song in which it strips away artifices to reconnect with the past and sing the present honestly.

Twenty-five years have passed since the publication of “The tickling feeling that flowers bring us” (Virgin, 01), an album that became a gold record and whose songs are part of Spanish musical heritage. In 2026, The Criminals They return to the stage with the mission of returning those songs to the public and paying tribute to Miguel’s memory.

Known mainly for being a member of Iron Maiden, Adrian Smith will visit us this February with Richie Kotzen to present the songs from their second album. Smith/Kotzen, “Black Light/White Noise” (BMG, 25). We chatted with him about that and much more.
