The American media have announced the news of the death of the Minneapolis musician Slim Dunlapwho was a guitarist for The Replacements since 1987 and with whom he would record “Don’t Tell A Soul” (89) and “All Shook Down” (90). He also released solo albums such as “The Old New Me” (93), although his name will always be linked to that of the band in which he shared adventures with Paul Westerberg.
Dunlap had been ill for some time since he suffered a heart attack in 2012 that generated subsequent complications until he ended up practically paralyzed in bed. In fact, his health had been in the news since some of his colleagues in The Replacements (specifically Westerberg and Tommy Stinson) came to record an EP of covers to raise funds to pay the artist’s medical bills. Likewise, last year various pieces for Dunlap collectors were put on sale to cover those same medical expenses we were talking about.
