Sinéad O’Connor will be the subject of a new biopic, Variety confirms. The film will relate the first years of O’Connor’s career and its struggle as an activist for the rights of childhood victim of abuse by the Catholic Church.
O’Connor, one of the greatest pop icons that emerged in Ireland, died in 2023 at age 56 for natural causes.
Behind the project is the IEE Producer IE: Entertainment, responsible for the production of ‘Nothing Compartes’, the 2022 documentary about O’Connor who was attended by the singer. IE: Entertaiment is developing the tape along with the producers Nine Daughters (‘Creatures of God’) and See-Saw Films (‘Slow Horses’).
According to Variety, O’Connor’s biopic already has a director, Josephine Decker, who would be working on the film about a script by the Irish writer Stacey Gregg.
