Sigur Rós today announce the final dates of their world tour, in which they will collaborate with local 41-piece orchestras to bring to life their latest album, ‘ÁTTA’, as well as many of their best classical songs.
The idea comes from 2023, when Sigur Rós decided to incorporate orchestral accompaniment to their tours. After reuniting with keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson in 2022, the members performed alongside full orchestras in large concert halls around the world. The performances are defined as “as expressive and indescribable as the band itself.”
The final leg of the tour will begin in Edinburgh on August 31, 2026 and will tour Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal, before concluding with two concerts in Berlin. As Doctor Music reports, in Spain we will see them on September 11 at the Auditori Fòrum CCIB in Barcelona and on September 15 at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao. In Barcelona they will be accompanied by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and, in Bilbao, by the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa.
Tickets for the concerts in Barcelona and Bilbao will be on sale this Friday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. For Barcelona through doctormusic.com and ventas.com, and for Bilbao at doctormusic.com and euskalduna.eus. Prices will range between 64.40 Euros and 178.25 Euros for Barcelona and for Bilbao between 82.50 Euros and 170.50 Euros. For more information and pre-sale access, visit sigurros.com/tour.
Conductor Robert Ames and local orchestras are the stars of this tour that has already passed through the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Salle Playel in Paris, the Bozar in Brussels, the National Auditorium in Mexico City and the Konzerthaus in Vienna.
Band member Kjartan Sveinsson says: “We are excited to return to orchestral concerts in September. It’s always very special to feel in the middle of an orchestra, surrounded by all those fantastic musicians we’ve played with over the last four years. Thank you to everyone who has come to our concerts, to all the musicians, to the technical team and, especially, to our director and arranger Rob Ames and our main arranger María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir.
