Shakira has been confirmed as the artist who will give a free concert on Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), on May 2. Shakira was the name that sounded the loudest in the bets and the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, confirmed this Wednesday that the Colombian will be the artist who follows in the footsteps of Madonna (2024) and Lady Gaga (2025), performing for an absolutely massive audience at the event known as Todo Mundo no Rio.
Shakira is expected to attract a massive audience, although it may not be as large as that of Madonna -1.6 million- and Lady Gaga -2.1 million-, since Shakira, who is Latin American, performs frequently in Brazil and, in fact, her current tour began in Rio a year ago.
Shakira’s visit to Copacabana is logically integrated into the ‘Women No Longer Cry’ tour, so it is to be expected that the show will follow the same design, although it will surely include specific nods to Brazil and who knows if there will be any notable collaborations. Shakira is currently performing tour dates in Latin America and will then travel to Western Asia for concerts scheduled in Jordan, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, all leading up to Copacabana.
Afterwards, Shakira should be able to perform in Europe, including some dates in Spain that have not yet been announced, perhaps due to the bookings already confirmed for 2026. Sticking to Madrid and Barcelona, Bad Bunny has monopolized May and June with a dozen dates at the Metropolitano, while the tours of Rosalía, El Último de la Fila and Bruno Mars extend between the end of March, April and July.
According to Los 40 Principales, the possibility is being studied that the arrival of Shakira’s tour in Spain will be delayed until 2027, but at the moment nothing has been confirmed.
