Senra has published these days the third volume of his series of long autobiographical albums ‘PO2054AZ’, after the consecutively launched in 2023 and 2024. ‘PO2054AZ (vol.iii)’ is the album of the week. Jenesaispop has been able to talk about him with his author.
An album mostly composed of acoustic songs, ‘PO2054AZ (vol.iii)’ contains some openly pop concession by way of catchy melodies and percussions. This is the case of ‘Romeo’, the song of the day for today Sunday.
Attached to a lo-fi style and slightly distorted, ‘Romeo’ makes its way as one of the most immediate songs of ‘PO2054AZ (vol.iii)’. It does not strange that it has been promoted with a beautiful video clip in which Senra appears lying in bed, in the moonlight, dressed in unpolluted white, or bathing in the water, surrounded by flowers.
‘Romeo’ (stylized ‘Rome or’, forgive me license) is an idealistic love song. Romeo’s figure -probably extracted from ‘Romeo and Julieta’ symbolizes passionate, youthful, eternal love, impossible to turn off despite adversities. Only death, the final “destiny” of life, will be imposed between Senra and the beloved person. A very Shakespearian message really.
In the song, Senra professes a love that crosses the epochs, from the past (“I knew I was going to find you long before you see you”), to the future (“This is how our love feels, like the smell of the sea and her swings, I wonder where we will see each other in all the following”) A, of course, the present. Uniting all the time, he sings: “I was always your Romeo, I want to be your Romeo, I will always be your Romeo.” A timeless love, like this song.
