Scooter Braun, on Taylor Swift: “I never understood the situation”

Scooter Braun has assured in a new interview with ‘Second Thought’ that he “never” fully understood his problem with Taylor Swift, due to which the artist ended up re-recording 4 of her albums. All, as a result of Braun absorbing Big Machine for 300 million dollars, keeping the rights to their first 6 albums. However, now he has revealed something he had never said: “I don’t know Taylor Swift.”

He claims that he has met her “three times in my life” and that he has never had “a substantial conversation” with her. Then, Braun remembers an occasion when Taylor would have invited him to a private party: “She told me she had the utmost respect for me, and I told her that I had the greatest respect for her.” This party would have taken place “two or three years before” the controversy and Braun assures that they never spoke afterwards or while everything was happening.

Taylor said at the time, in 2019, that at no time was she offered to purchase the rights to her songs and even declared on Tumblr that Scooter Braun was harassing her on social media: “He’s about to take over all the music I’ve ever made,” she posted. Let’s also remember that Braun was Kanye West’s former manager, who also has a well-known history with Taylor.

Before ensuring that he wishes her “the best” and that he is “grateful for everything at this point in my life,” Braun reasons that “you don’t spend $300 million buying a label that she’s on unless you’re excited about the opportunity to work with her.”
