Sabrina Carpenter laughs for not crying in ‘Such A Funny Way’

Sabrina Carpenter’s Christmas gift has been, not the deluxe version, but the ‘Bonus Track’ version of ‘Man’s Best Friend’. This includes ‘Such A Funny Way’, described by the artist herself as a “cathartic Christmas breakdown song.” In it, the singer maintains her usual humor and sarcasm while holding back tears. It’s the Song of the Day.

The structure of ‘Such A Funny Way’ is not new to Sabrina’s discography, beginning with a skeletal instrumental before revealing the chorus in its most restrained version. However, the lyrics are interesting enough to keep you engaged before the percussion kicks in on the first verse.

Carpenter illustrates taking things with humor at its best, describing a totally failed relationship in which her partner completely ignores her. However, she sees it differently: “It must be that you love me so much that you can’t find the words,” she sings in the first line.

The artist manages to hilariously justify situations such as her partner keeping her “away from friends or family” or not wanting the sweatshirt from the night they met: “How adorable that you give it back to me.” Above all, he does not lose his humor. “You have such a peculiar way of saying that you love me, forgetting me more every day,” he sings in the chorus. As she confesses in the last line, Sabrina laughs so as not to cry.
