Rufus Wainwright, in love with Bad Bunny: “I would sleep with him”

Rufus Wainwright has just visited Spain to attend the MADO Awards gala, where he received an award for his commitment to the LGTBIQ+ community. There he has also posed with the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun.

Furthermore, the author of ‘I Don’t Know What It Is’ sat down to chat with El País, where he left a striking headline about Bad Bunny: like half the world, he confesses that he is in love with him and that he would like to “sleep” with the Puerto Rican singer. “He’s so handsome,” she says.

Next, Wainwright leaves an interesting reflection on Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio’s heterosexuality: «He seems so comfortable when he is surrounded by gays. He’s one of those straight guys who you know are straight precisely because they’re comfortable around gay guys. Do you know what I mean? And that makes it even sexier, if possible. Of course, the Canadian admits that he doesn’t know Bad Bunny’s music too much.

The interview is full of little gems. Wainwright talks about sexuality and remembers that he began having sexual relations at the age of 13, when he was cruising with strangers. However, he explains that a sexual assault he suffered in London and the AIDS epidemic made him rethink that stage: for a decade he was convinced that he was going to die of AIDS and even came to accept the possibility of dying at a very young age.

When El País tells him that, thanks to PrEP, that fear no longer exists to the same extent, Wainwright is not entirely optimistic: “Young people are freer than us, but they also have more problems, such as artificial intelligence or the environmental crisis.”

On the other hand, Wainwright remembers that the first man she fell in love with was a French tennis instructor from a camp where the “Satan” Jeffrey Epstein also attended. He speaks more affectionately about other artists, such as Rosalía, who he says sings “with incredible precision,” and about his friendship with Björkr: he reveals that sometimes they write to each other and that the Icelander can send him “80 emojis” in a single message.
