The music cycle Bizi ala Iraun returns to Kutxa Fundazioa in Tabakalera – Kluba from March 5 to May 15.
Kutxa Fundazioa with the collaboration of Bidean Produkzioak, returns in 2026 with the concert series Bizi ala Iraun, in which a dialogue between the past and the present is proposed. A cry in favor of authenticity, of the search and enhancement of our identity, which involves a journey to the roots and to search for local references, which are interspersed with the most current sounds.
The cycle will once again build bridges between the past and the present by inviting national and international artists whose proposals dialogue with tradition from contemporary, hybrid and brave perspectives. The programming will start on March 5 with the round table “Sustraiak eta ertzak”moderated by Galder Perezwhich becomes the conceptual starting point of the cycle. This meeting proposes to reflect on what happens when roots and avant-garde come into friction, opening a shared space to think about how tradition is transformed when mixed, tense or overflowing, and offering a reading key to understand the complexity and beauty of current folk.
On March 6 it will be the turn of Audiencewhich celebrates 25 years of history since it began its journey in 1999. With ten LPs published and more than 400 concerts behind it, the band has transitioned from American roots rock to projects as unique as the Basque review of Bob Dylan or soundtracks for documentaries, collaborating with international producers and performing at large festivals. His career, marked by curiosity and constant evolution, also anticipates new songs and an upcoming album.
On March 13th there will be an evening shared by CastaZabal and The Mary. CastaZabal proposes a fusion of flamenco, jota, Basque song and rap that vindicates the union between peoples and respect for difference, with lyrics born from personal experiences that invite collective reflection. For its part, La María will present Robina, an intimate and innovative album that reinterprets traditional Valencian music from the roots to the avant-garde; an emotional journey inspired by the symbolism of the ruby where love, loss and rebirth become creative axes. The next day, March 14, he will perform Nettlean alternative reference in the recovery of the verbena sound and in the vindication of merengue, cumbia or electro-Latin from a contemporary perspective. With an explosive live performance and a fusion that draws on urban and Latin rhythms as well as rock culture and the tradition of the Galician orchestra, Ortiga turns each concert into an authentic dance machine.
On March 20 it will be the turn of Gregotechnoa project that intertwines the sacred modes of Gregorian chant with the pulsating energy of electronics. Accompanied by video art inspired by Romanesque architecture, his proposal creates a multisensory ritual that connects the spiritual and the festive, the liturgical past and the club present. On March 21 he will take over Antía Muíñorevelation of the new Galician song, whose universe moves between jazz-pop, author’s song and Galician tradition. With a voice capable of moving between delicacy and intensity, and a solid track record in festivals and awards, his proposal confirms the vitality of the new Galician scene.
The programming will continue on April 17 with From Ninghuresone of the most representative bands of the current Galician scene. His music, which updates popular couplets and melodies with Latin American and North African influences, combines musical mastery and a casual attitude, inviting both dance and emotion. On April 18 he will perform Javi Medinaan artist who fuses contemporary flamenco with other genres to create a personal and emotional sound, addressing themes such as love, loss and resilience in his lyrics, and connecting with audiences of different generations. On April 24th it will be the turn of Ibon RG and Enrike Hurtadokey figures of the Basque experimental scene who combine voice, piano, txalaparta and their own software to expand the limits of traditional and electronic sound, building pieces that range from the most organic a cappella singing to the most daring digital manipulation. One day later, on April 25, it will arrive Rocio Marquezone of the great innovators of flamenco of the 21st century, whose vocal excellence and investigative rigor lead her to cross the canons without dogmas, placing flamenco art in the contemporary musical avant-garde.
In May, the cycle will maintain its innovative pulse. On May 8 he will perform Mursegoa creator who explores the border between concert and performance, questioning the limits of sound, the body and stage time. With a universe that dialogues with literature, cinema, Basque tradition and multiple artistic references, its proposal turns each performance into a conceptual and sensory experience. Finally, on May 15 the cycle will close The Prancing Ponyone of the most prominent popular music bands in Catalonia, known for its eclectic mix of Catalan folk, Celtic and Mediterranean melodies, yodeling, Tuvan guttural singing or Georgian polyphonies.
