Raphael has been admitted urgently after suffering a cerebrovascular failure while recording the Christmas special of La Revuelta at the Teatro Príncipe Gran Vía, scheduled to be broadcast on December 25. As police sources have confirmed to EL ESPAÑOL, the artist has been urgently transferred to the San Carlos Clinical Hospital.
This weekend, Friday December 20th and Saturday December 21st, Raphael had two concerts scheduled at the WiZink Center in Madrid. Finally, today they have been canceled following “the medical indications issued by the San Carlos clinic in Madrid.”
In addition, the singer’s management office has released a statement in which they clarify that “stroke has been ruled out as the cause of his hospital admission.” However, they also specify that it will be necessary to “perform more tests to determine the origin of the neurological process presented.” Raphael will be transferred to the 12 de Octubre University Hospital “at the request of the patient and his family.”
The event occurred before 7:30 p.m. this Tuesday, at which time the 81-year-old singer began to feel unwell during an interview with Broncano. That’s when the Emergency Service of the Community of Madrid receives a notice originating on Tres Cruces Street, where the program’s theater is located. TVE sources have explained to El País that the singer “has gone out on his own to catch the ambulance.”
Sources close to Raphael’s family assure that he is “conscious and stable” and that they have been carrying out tests since his admission to the hospital. RLM Management, the singer’s representation agency, has spoken with EFE and explained that he has suffered a “transitory” episode, that he is “fine” and that he will undergo more tests to “rule out anything.” They insist that the relatives are “very calm.”
Raphael’s last appearance, ironically, was this Monday at El Hormiguero, where he presented his latest album, ‘Antes…aún’.
