Primavera Sound announces that it will return Thursday tickets

Primavera Sound has published an official statement explaining the security reasons that led to the cancellation of several of the main concerts on Thursday due to adverse weather conditions and the application of the festival’s security protocols. In addition, the organization has announced that next Monday the process of refunding the amount of tickets for the affected day will open.

Around 9:00 p.m., with a yellow alert activated by the AEMET and the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, gusts of wind of up to 80 km/h and persistent rain forced the organization to stop part of the programming for safety reasons.

Throughout the night, the festival worked to try to save some of the most anticipated concerts, including Massive Attack, Doja Cat and Bad Gyal. A tentative rescheduling of the Massive Attack concert at 00:30 was even announced. However, the weather conditions did not improve enough in the most exposed settings, which ended up making all of these performances impossible.

The festival emphasizes that the established safety protocols were followed at all times and that the priority was to protect the public, artists and workers. The organization has also stressed that no serious incidents were recorded.

Full statement

«Yesterday late in the afternoon, around 9:00 p.m. and under yellow alert from Meteocat and AEMET, the weather conditions forced part of the programming for Thursday’s Primavera Sound Barcelona event to be stopped for safety reasons. Firstly, the rain and strong gusts of wind, which reached up to 80 km per hour, forced the cancellation of Alex G’s performance on the Revolut stage (20:50) and the temporary evacuation of the space. The established safety protocol dictates that with such strong wind gusts it is not safe to hold concerts.

Immediately afterwards, the persistent rain and wind made it impossible for Mac DeMarco’s team to perform their set on time on the Occident stage (9:55 p.m.), also leading to the cancellation of their performance because the necessary safety conditions could not be met.

The CUPRA, Schwarzkopf and Port stages continued with their planned programming, allowing the concerts of Oklou and Father John Misty (CUPRA), Agriculture (Port) and Skullcrusher (Schwarzkopf) to be held and then the rest of the programming until the end. The Plenitude, The Levi’s Warehouse and CUPRA Pulse stages also gradually returned to normal.

At the same time, the festival organization began to work tirelessly with the teams of Massive Attack, Doja Cat and Bad Gyal so that the performances on the Estrella Damm and Revolut stages could be resumed throughout the night. Around 11:30 p.m., and with a more favorable weather forecast, the festival announced that Massive Attack’s performance would begin at 12:30 a.m. (initially scheduled for 9:55 p.m.), this being the intention of both the band and the festival.

Unfortunately, the rain and especially the wind persisted in the area of said stages, finally making it impossible for safety reasons to perform by Massive Attack on the Estrella Damm stage, by Doja Cat on the Revolut stage (initially scheduled for 11:30 p.m.) and by Bad Gyal on the Estrella Damm stage (initially scheduled for 1:30 a.m.). As the two scenarios are most exposed to rain and wind due to their location and size, the reasons derived from the meteorological conditions did not guarantee the safety to resume the activity in both despite the efforts made.

We understand and share the frustration and sadness of the public in this situation, which is not what we wanted for the first day of Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026. The organization of the festival followed the established security protocols at all times and prioritized the safety of the public, artists and workers above all. We thank the public for their understanding and confirm that, despite the difficulty of the situation, there were no serious incidents.

On Monday, the refund operation for Thursday day tickets will be detailed, the amount of which will be refunded.

The festival will open its doors this afternoon at 3:45 p.m. as normal to begin the second day of the festival, which will feature performances by The Cure, Addison Rae, PinkPantheress, Ethel Cain, Skrillex, Amaarae, Ralphie Choo and Slowdive among many others.

A Thursday spent by water… and wind

After the first concerts seen at Primavera à la ciutat, Primavera Pro or even on the opening day of the Forum this Wednesday, it was time to open the doors of Primavera Sound 2026 in a big way.

Cameron Winter offered a much talked about show at the Auditori early in the morning, for which an impressive queue was generated from midday; Blood Orange filled the Revolut stage with his band; and Ravyn Lenae dazzled with an R&B with rock touches, halfway between Michael Jackson and an indie band… but the rain made its appearance around 8:00 p.m.

Geese endured the downpour stoically, while the organization did its best to distribute free raincoats at various points in the venue. However, the large stages decided to stop their activity around 9:00 p.m., and were evacuated. The organization reported the cancellations of artists such as Mac DeMarco and Alex G on social networks.

When it cleared, Oklou surprised by offering his set on the Cupra Stage around 9:30 p.m., making the thousands of attendees vibrate with his hits between hyper pop and ambient, even celebrating one of the largest audiences he had ever had. In some ways, their music seemed like the soundtrack to the bad weather and uncertainty that loomed over the venue.

While the Father John Misty and Massive Attack shows will go ahead, Doja Cat reports on social networks that they have been canceled due to bad weather.
