The European tour of the Ibero-American artist Rafael Anton Irisarri They will pass between February and May through Pamplona, Barcelona and San Sebastián.
The Ibero-American composer and reference of experimental ambient Rafael Anton Irisarri has just presented “Signals from a Distant Afterglow”, the second preview of his next album “Points of Inaccessibility”which will be released on February 6, 2026. His new single delves into themes such as distance, emotional disconnection, and fragmented communication in the digital age.
The song features the vocal collaboration of Karen Vogtwhose voice appears as a distant and diffuse signal, integrated into the sound texture more like an echo than as a leading element. The album has been developed between Utrecht and Irisarri’s studio in New York, and has had the editorial collaboration of Abul Mogard. “Points of Inaccessibility” reflects on how, despite being permanently connected, the emotional distance continues to increase. Rather than seeking clarity, the album explores the remains and traces left by lost connections.
The release of the new album is accompanied by a European tour that will visit several cities, including dates in the state such as Iruña-Pamplona (February 1), Barcelona (February 14) and Donostia (May 14)as well as performances in Budapest, Vienna, Athens, London and Berlin. The album will be released via Black Knoll Editions in BioVinyl format and will be accompanied by live audiovisual performances.
Rafael Anton Irisarri is an Ibero-American composer, producer and mastering engineer whose work traverses the overlapping territories of ambient, experimental and contemporary classical music. Born in Puerto Rico and currently established between Spain and the rural environment of New York State, he became known in the early 2000s on the Seattle scene under the alias The Sight Belowwhere blurred guitar textures and submerged rhythms met the austere pulse of minimal techno.
Since then, his sound has expanded into vast landscapes, sensitive to memory, geography and the emotional weight of places. Their catalog ranges from their first releases in Ghostly International until recent works in Black Knoll Editionsforming a sustained work that functions as an archive of atmospheres and post-images.
Irisarri is also founder of Black Knoll Studioa mastering studio whose catalog covers much of contemporary experimental music. His work as an engineer has shaped recordings by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Terry Riley, William Basinski, Grouper, Julianna Barwick, MONO, among many others. Long-term collaborations with Abul Mogard and Benoît Pioulard – including three albums as Orcas and various joint projects – constitute a central axis of his artistic practice.
