In full tour of “The Free Life”, McEnroe They premiere with us a new video clip, the one corresponding to “El Jardinero”, which is a tribute to rural life.
With their latest songs, McEnroe wanted to recreate a very special atmosphere, reproduce a type of life in which things move at a different speed, in which spiritual peace is associated with work, but also with life itself, with respites since things can be different. And the video clip for “El Jardinero” emphasizes those points.
The video clip has been directed by Juan Pradowho has also been in charge of the camera in a filming that took place in Azkorri (Getxo) with Tomas Zuazola as protagonist.
But let’s let the band itself explain to us what they have tried to reflect both in their songs and in this new video clip that we premiere today: “With ‘The Free Life’more than putting together a collection of songs, we wanted to draw a landscape, recreate a scene, an atmosphere and a moment. We wanted to represent everything that now inspires and moves us. When we decided to shoot a video clip that will accompany the album we did not hesitate for a second to choose ‘El Jardinero’. Perhaps this song is the one that comes closest to all that feeling that we wanted to convey. Slow life to be able to observe, the greatness of small gestures, the importance of intimate universes. We were very lucky to have Juan Prado nearby, for him to understand so quickly and well this idea that was so complicated to explain. Lucky to have your enthusiasm and sensitivity. And also good luck in not having to go far to look for the protagonist. Tomás works in the garden in front of Ricardo’s house. He goes there almost every day that the weather allows to work the land, plant and take care of his vegetables and flowers. As if it came from the poem by José Corredor Matheos that inspired the lyrics of the song. Tomás agreed to become an actor and made us happy. We celebrated it in the same garden by opening a bottle of white wine, a can of sardines and breaking a loaf of bread with our hands while everything around us flowed freely.”
